In summer you can let off steam in the garden, on the meadow or in the forest. But hikes and well-known games are taboo this summer. Try one of these here:

Toggle1. Goal wall with a difference
Who says there always has to be a hole at the top and one at the bottom? And who decides that only one ball can go through? How about completely different positions and a frisbee instead of a football? It’s the variety that counts!
2. Ladder darts
Sometimes it is enough to look into the cellar, the attic or the storage room. Simply place a ladder in the garden, mark each rung gap with a score and throw away. Water balloons or plastic balls are suitable for throwing.
3. Giant Ring Toss
Ring throwing is known. But does the fun get bigger when the rings get bigger? Definitive! Either you get pool noodles and stick them together to form rings, as was done here . Or you just take the hula hoop and push a big branch or broomstick into the ground.
4. Giant Scrabble
Anyone can read this! Simply make large squares out of wood or cardboard and write letters on them. You can also deviate from the original rules here and simply put your favorite words and take a picture of yourself from above. Or you put a letter in everyone’s hand, form two teams and call out words that they have to form with them. Whoever gets sorted the fastest wins.
5. Giant memory
Similar to Scrabble, you can also make huge memory cards and play on the lawn. In the XXL version you definitely get more exercise than with the memory in the living room. The Studio DIY website describes in detail how you can design your own giant memory. Another great idea is a photo memory with your own picturesadvertisement, which is also great for gifts.
6. Mug Race
Don’t want to get wet yet and too lazy to walk? Then you simply send someone else into the race: the plastic cup! What you need: Cup, string, water pistol and something to tie the string to (detailed description of the setup can be found on the All For The Boys blog ). Rules of the game: The water gun is shot into the cup to move it along the rope. Whoever gets their cup moved from A to B first wins.
If it’s a really really hot day, with 35°C in the shade and no swimming pool nearby, you can also cool down like this.
7. Fairground pool
Do you remember that fairground game where you sit on a board, under you a pool full of water and in front of the pool people with balls trying to hit a big red button? When the button is hit, the bench folds down and you end up in the pool – pure refreshment! A somewhat smaller construction of this game can also be easily built in the garden. All you need is a tree to which you can attach a target, a small platform for a bucket, and something to knock the bucket over. Then you have to fix the bucket, fill it with water and put a chair under it. You can find the exact instructions on the The Happy Housewife page.
8. Freezer T-Shirt
This game requires some preparation. The day before everyone should pick out an old t-shirt, which is wet and folded and placed in the freezer compartment. When the sun really shines the next day, the race begins: everyone is given their t-shirt and has to try to unfold and put it on faster than the others in order to be the beaming winner – but everyone cools off in the process.
9. Water slide
All you really need is an all-purpose tarpaulin, an open area (ideally a little sloping) and water (from a hose or bucket). The slide can already begin. If you like it even more slippery, you are welcome to prepare the tarpaulin with a little washing-up liquid.
10. Water Balloon Catch
Instead of just having a normal water fight, this time everyone has to try to catch the water balloons without breaking them. Not that easy, especially with wet hands.
11. Marble fishing
You can either do it with an inflatable pool or just with glasses, mugs or bowls. Whichever container you choose: you fill it with water, put marbles in it and the first of all, or the one who can fish out the most marbles with his feet, wins.
12. Sponge Cannon
This requires a couple of sponges, two tubs each (one with water and one without), and a slingshot (see the All Does She page for details ). There are two teams. The person standing by the full tub lets the sponge soak up water and then throws it at the person standing by the empty tub. This must then either catch the sponge or pick it up off the floor and wring it out over the empty tub. Whichever team has more water in their second tub after a certain time wins.
The light is getting weaker, the air is getting cooler, the wet clothes have dried or changed, but you’re not really tired yet. It’s a good thing you don’t run out of ideas.
13. Lawn Twister
You can buy the party game Twister. But you can also easily make it yourself. All you need is a pizza box and water-soluble spray paints. If you use fluorescent paint and spray it on at noon, you can also play late into the night. Simply cut a hole in the pizza box and use the template to spray your very own twister game onto the lawn. You will find detailed instructions on this website .
14. Giant Jenga
This guide explains how to build your own giant version of the skill game. But it is also already available in stores in “oversize”. But be careful: If the tower falls over, it is better to jump to the side quickly!
15. Light bowling
Glow sticks are a wonderful invention. When it starts to get dark, you simply activate them, throw them into 9 empty bottles, get a ball and bowl. Not only is it fun, it looks great too!
16. Quick sandwich
Still hungry in the evening? Then teamwork is the order of the day! All the ingredients are placed on the table and then it starts: Everyone adds an ingredient and then quickly passes the plate on. The last person in line can then really bite into it. Of course, this also works as a competition: two teams try to make the perfect quick sandwich as quickly as possible. Everyone then judges by speed, appearance and taste.
17. Balloon Catch
Not tired yet? Maybe an evening game of tag can change that. So that this doesn’t get boring either, everyone gets a balloon tied to their leg. So you don’t have to catch the person, you have to break the balloon. The last person to have a balloon on their leg wins. A detailed description of the game can be found on stumingames.com.
18th Ceiling Race
You’re slowly getting tired. A last game before going to bed could be this: All the children grab a blanket and sit on one end of it. Mom or Dad must take the other end of the blanket and on Go the parent must try to get their child to the finish first. If you finish, you can go to bed.
