Which boy names do we parents prefer to give? The Wiesbaden-based Society for the German Language (GfdS) provides an answer to this question. In order to determine the first names most frequently given in Germany, the German registry offices sent almost 1,000,000 first names to the Society for the German Language. This means that almost 90 percent of the first names given are recorded. Here is the result of the ten most popular names for boys:
The result clearly shows that German parents prefer more traditional boy names. Maximilian is in the top position and Alexander makes it to second place . Paul is the first name in third place and Elias in fourth place . Overall, the ranks have only shifted slightly by one or two places.
