Games to get to know each other on children’s birthday parties

At the beginning of a birthday party, many of the little guests are still a little reserved and shy. A fun game to warm up and get to know quickly lets the inhibitions pass. We will show you which games are particularly suitable for getting to know each other.

Games to get to know: My right seat is free

This game is ideal if the children do not all know each other. You need a circle of chairs or seat cushions, with one seat remaining empty. The child to the left begins with the sentence: My right, right seat is free, so I wish for the… to come. This child then asks what it should come as. For example, the first child wishes for a tiger. So the second child has to come crawling to the empty seat on all fours and hissing loudly. The game continues in this way until each child has had a turn.

Games to get to know each other: Fun name game

For this game you also have to let the children form a circle. The first child, preferably the birthday child, begins. It says its name with an adjective that is as funny as possible. The first letters must match. For example: “I’m the strongest Bianca.” The next child has to repeat the name and adjective of the previous child and think of something for themselves. For example, it says: “This is the strong Bianca and I’m the brave Markus.” The more children it was, the harder the game got. (The same principle as in the game: I pack my suitcase)

Introductory games: Role reversal

This game is particularly suitable if the players do not know each other very well. Each child’s name is written on a piece of paper and everyone draws one from it. The child should now try to tell as much as possible about the child whose name is on the piece of paper. For example, it could say: “The child wears blue trousers” or “The child prefers to ride a bicycle”. The other children have to try to name the correct child from the crowd.
