The woods are colourful: text and notes
This song is especially good for fall. The text was written in 1793 by Johann Gaudenz von Salis-Seewis. The melody was composed by Johann Friedrich Reichardt in 1799.
Here you will find the lyrics and sheet music for the children’s song “The woods are already colorful”.
The woods are colorful
1. The forests are already colourful,
the stubble fields are yellow
and autumn is beginning.
Red leaves fall,
gray fog billows,
the wind blows cooler.
2. How the full cluster of grapes
shines crimson from the vine bower
! Ripening peaches with stripes painted red and white
on the railing .
3. Nimble porters jump
and the girls sing,
everyone cheers happily!
Colorful ribbons float
between tall vines
on a hat of straw.
4. Violin sounds and flute
at
sunset and in the moonlight;
young winegrowers
wave and begin
a happy harvest dance.
