What requirements does your child have to meet for high school?

If most of the following statements apply to your child, then your child has many important qualities that are needed at high school. In any case, you should also follow the recommendation of the primary school. Your child’s elementary school teacher was able to get a very precise picture of your child’s abilities during the four to six years of elementary school and can therefore usually judge very well whether your child is suitable for high school.

• It does its homework on its own and only occasionally asks for help if it has specific problems with understanding.
• It takes an active part in the lessons and helps to shape them with interesting contributions.
• Your child has enough stamina to solve even more demanding tasks, is mentally and emotionally resilient and has a healthy dose of self-confidence.
• Your child is creative and develops many of their own ideas.
• Even in everyday life, it understands connections quite quickly.
• It develops its own solutions to problems.
• Your child would also like to go to high school.

What do other types of schools offer?

But other types of school, such as comprehensive school , junior high school or secondary school can offer your child a solid education and give them the chance to graduate from high school. It is also possible to switch to grammar school at a later point in time. Maybe your child just needs a little more time to develop.
