1. Hansel and Gretel got lost in the woods.
It was so dark and so bitterly cold.
They arrived fine at a cottage of gingerbread.
Who do you think might be the lord of this cottage?

2. Hu-hu, there’s an old hag looking out.
She lures the children into the gingerbread house.
She even acted friendly. O, Hansel, what distress!
She wanted to roast him in the oven as brown as bread!

3. But when the witch looked into the oven,
she was pushed by our little Gretel.
The witch had to roast, the children go home.
Now the fairy tale of Hans and Gretel is over.
