This is how you massage the back of your baby’s body correctly

Finish the baby massage with a gentle treatment of the back of the body. This part of the massage can usually only be carried out when your baby can hold its head up independently. You can find detailed instructions in our photo gallery.

In order for the baby massage to have the desired effect and for your baby to really relax, you should repeat all the grips and movements five to ten times. But always follow your baby and adjust the number of repetitions to his mood and reactions.

Step 1

Turn your baby onto his stomach and oil his back and the back of his head well in preparation for the last point of the baby massage.

step 2

Place your hand on the back of your baby’s head. Hold your hand very loosely and spread your fingers slightly so that you can gently hold your head. Then alternately stroke the back of your baby’s head with both hands in a combing motion. The movement ends at the neck.

Pour some warmed baby oil on your baby’s back and let it run down the spine.

Place your hands gently on your baby’s neck. To do this, place them across your back. Now slowly stroke from the neck towards the waist. Make sure that you cover the entire baby’s back with your palms.
Important: Do not put any pressure on the spine, as this is still very sensitive.

step 5

Take your baby’s feet in one hand and stretch the little legs slightly upwards. Then use your other hand to stroke your back, buttocks and legs from the side of your neck down. The movement ends at the heels. Switch hands and gently stroke the other side of your body in the same way.

step 6

To complete the baby massage, turn your child back onto its back. Oil your hands again and then gently stroke from the middle of the head over the face, shoulders, upper body, stomach and legs. When you get to your feet, hold them in your hands for a while.
