Bleeding during pregnancy can occur especially in the first and second trimester. Bleeding occurs less frequently in the last third, but can have causes that are life-threatening for the child.
Every fourth pregnant woman has light spotting during the first third of her pregnancy . Even in late pregnancy, in the 18th week of pregnancy , you may be surprised by bleeding.
These often occur after irritation of the vaginal and cervical mucosa, which can happen, for example, during sexual intercourse. A vaginal infection, polyps on the cervix, a severe bladder infection or hemorrhoids can also be the cause. So they don’t always have to have something to do with your pregnancy.
Nevertheless, it is important that you have any bleeding checked by a doctor during pregnancy. If it is very severe or painful, or even blood clots are coming off, you should go to a women’s clinic immediately.
