Bruises: symptoms and treatment
In our children’s diseases encyclopedia you will find information on the causes and the best treatment options for children’s diseases from A to Z.
How bruising occurs
Doors and drawers are the most common causes of crushing in children, as their hands often get caught in between. A contusion occurs when the tissue is violently shaken, for example when the child runs into something. Over time, bluish discoloration or swelling usually develops in the affected area.
treat bruises
As a first measure, it is usually sufficient to cool the affected area with ice or cold spray. Even cold, running water brings relief. However, an ice pack should not lie directly and uninterruptedly on the skin for too long (on the fingers, for example, no longer than five minutes, otherwise a maximum of 20 minutes), so that no damage occurs due to the cold.
However, if the pain is too severe or if a joint is affected, you should take your child to the doctor.
