Letter to my child: “What I wish for you…”
Especially when our children are still small, we want to give them all the happiness in the world. Hopes, dreams, experiences: we wish them only the best. As much as we want to accompany them, in the end our children have to make their way all by themselves. Guest author Julia Häuser has therefore written a touching letter that we definitely don’t want to withhold from you.
Sweet Child O Mine,
you are still small and your world is fine, but when you are bigger, many challenges come your way. So that you can master all these tasks and new situations, there are a few things I wish you for your life:
Be respectful!
Respect for other people, animals and nature must guide all your actions. Every person is worth the same. No matter how he looks, what language he speaks or what goals he pursues in life. We all have the same right to be on this earth. Nobody is better than the other.
I wish that you treat older people with a lot of respect. They have already experienced a lot in their lives and you should appreciate that. But you also have to respect people your age and the very little ones. Some still have things to learn that you may already know, but that doesn’t make them any less valuable. You and I and everyone else are basically the same. We are humans.
Be open!
In times when people from all nations and regions of the world come to us and when you can travel almost all over the world, it is important that you are open to the differences between people. You have to learn that all the different cultures, ways of life and idiosyncrasies give you so much. You can get to know so many new things that can help you in your life.
But you have to keep your eyes open and be positive about these differences. I wish you to always be curious about others, to welcome them with open arms and to wish everyone their happiness and their place in our world.
Follow your goals!
Always think carefully about what you want in life and then try to achieve it. It can be the little things in life. If you want a toy, save your money for it. If you want praise, earn it by doing good deeds. But the whole thing also applies to the really big goals in life. Do you have a dream job? Then do whatever it takes to reach him. Never give up if you really want something, but don’t be disappointed if sometimes it takes a little more time and effort to reach your goals.
Have faith in yourself!
You are special! you have talents You are very strong and you can use this energy. Whatever you do, have faith in yourself. Trust your instincts, your values, and your abilities. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something, that you’re too bad, too small or too stupid. You’re not! You are great just the way you are.
Do something for your education!
Education is so incredibly important. At some point you will think that school is stupid and doesn’t help anyway. Why do you need percentages at all and why do I have to learn all the special rules in French grammar? But believe me, it’s not always about the actual content.
It’s about being curious, educating yourself, learning about the world and how it works. Later, after school, you will have to do an apprenticeship or study to get a job. You become an expert in a field and that makes you important. But even as an adult, you should never stop educating yourself. There is something for you to discover in every little thing. Something you don’t already know or know. However, this should never discourage you, but rather arouse your interest and curiosity to find out even more about the world you live in.
Love!
That’s probably the most important thing in life. Love yourself, love your family, love your friends, your job, animals, nature. Whatever you do, do it with your heart. It will always show you the right path and the people you love and who love you will always accompany you on this path.
