The bird wedding – the popular children’s song
This well-known folk tune has been handed down since 1800, but is based on older versions. The popular text was handed down in a manuscript as early as 1460.
Here you will find the sheet music and the lyrics to the children’s song “Die Vogelhochzeit”.
The Bird Wedding

in the green forest.
Fiderallala, fiderallala, fiderallalala.

the blackbird was the bride.
Fiderallala…

brought the wedding wreath to the bride.
Fiderallala…
4. The lark, the lark,
leading the bride to the kerche.
Fiderallala…
5. The mother of the bride was the owl,
saying goodbye with howling.
Fiderallala…
6. The wood grouse, the wood grouse,
that was the proud chaplain.
Fiderallala…
7. The tit, the tit,
sang the Kyrieleise.
Fiderallala…
8. The hoopoe, the hoopoe,
brought the bride a flower pot.

9. The turkeys, the turkeys,
they made big pouts.

and everyone is going home happy.
Fiderallala…
15. The rooster that crows: “Good night”,
now the chamber is closed.
Fiderallala…
Since there are many other birds, the wedding party can also look very different. Who invents new stanzas for sparrows, finches, tits, bullfinches and other birds?
