This is how your child develops in the 12th to 15th month
The first exciting year with your child is over. Between the ages of 12 and 15 months, your child will become increasingly mobile, their language development will progress and their motor skills such as grasping and touching will become more and more pronounced. So now it’s getting really exciting.
Walking and motor skills: first steps
From the 12th to 15th month of life, most children begin to dare to walk. After crawling and pulling up on the table leg comes the shaky walking on the hand. Or your child holds on to furniture and carefully walks along it. Soon after, the first steps can be taken without holding on. In addition, at this age your child can sit down independently without holding on and supports itself while sitting if it threatens to tip over backwards.
Motor and sensory skills also become more and more developed during this time: your child now manages to reach for objects in a targeted manner. To do this, it uses the thumb and forefinger and thus applies the so-called tweezer grip. He also manages to place an item in the desired location.
