Fairy tale mirror: handicrafts with children aged 4 and over

“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” This special mirror is decorated with a mosaic. It’s easy to make and fun even for the little ones.

Age: from 4 years

What you need: Clothes pegs, aluminum foil, brown cardboard, colored cardboard, thin red corrugated cardboard, white cardboard, pencil, several brushes, scissors, craft glue, clear varnish, container for clear varnish

Handicraft instructions for a fairytale mirror

  • First, your child folds the white card in half and draws half the outline of a mirror on it and cuts it out.
  • With this template, which will now be unfolded, your child will draw the mirror on two pieces of cardboard. Then it cuts them both out.
  • Now your child folds the template again and cuts an oval out of the middle. The template is now unfolded again. Your child can now draw the oval on one of the cardboard mirrors and cut it out.
  • Next, have your child cut a round piece of aluminum foil and stick it on one of the cardboard mirrors.
  • Cut out small squares from the colored cardboard.
  • Now she can glue the two cardboard mirrors together.
  • While the cardboard mirrors are drying, your child can cut a crown out of red, thin corrugated cardboard. Then stick it on the mirror.
  • Your child then glues the small squares to the edge of the mirror like a mosaic.
  • You can help your child to cover the mosaic with clear varnish so that the colored cardboard really shines.
  • And now off to the fairytale world!
