Handicraft instructions for a glass lantern

  • First find a glass for the lantern: An empty mustard glass without a screw rim is particularly suitable for this.
  • Help your child prepare by mixing some powdered paste with water in a small bowl.
  • Meanwhile, your child can tear different colored tracing paper into small pieces until they have a small pile of scraps in front of them.
  • If your child has enough snippets, they can start by smearing the whole glass with glue.
  • Now your child can stick the snippets of transparent paper onto the glass until it is completely covered. You can also stick several layers of paper on top of each other. Your child has to be careful because the glass is very slippery and can easily slip out of their hands.
  • Now you can place a burning tea light in the glass and admire the beautiful play of light.
