FenKid: Crawl, rhyme and research
What is “FenKid” and what is done in this baby course? Although “Fenkid” is already an integral part of many baby course programs, the concept is still relatively unknown. For whom these courses are suitable, what happens there and how your child is supported in the FenKid course, you can find out here.
What is FenKid?
The concept of FenKid was developed in Munich by a counseling center for natural birth. It is based on the theories of Elfriede Hengstenberg, Jesper Juul, Maria Montessori and Dr. Emmi Pikkler. The term FenKid comes from “developmentof theKinDes”.
What happens during the FenKid course?
In the courses you will try out various games, rhymes and songs together with pedagogical specialists. The exchange of experiences among the parents and with the course instructors as well as the contact between the babies is in the foreground. For your baby, this is about exploring new worlds. With different play material, for example, feeling, hearing and recognition are promoted. Your child can also acquire social skills here: petting, swinging and crawling games promote togetherness. For the parents, it is also about attentive observation of their own child. As a result, you get to know your child better and can better assess their individual needs.
Why take a FenKid course?
A FenKid course gives you more information and knowledge about your child’s development and support opportunities. It promotes your baby’s senses and abilities and offers you the opportunity to exchange experiences with other parents and experts.
FenKid is all about thethree Cs: communication, cooperation and competence.
- Communication means that you let your child participate in all your steps. An example is telling your child what you’re doing while dressing and changing diapers, or talking to your baby before picking him up.
- Cooperation means letting your child participate. Even with infant care, you can promote your baby by giving him time to help. This allows it to participate to the best of its ability. You will learn the how and where in the course.
- In the sense of the FenKid concept, competence means that you give your child the chance to work on something themselves right from the start. Your child should have the chance to discover the world independently and gain experience on their own at an early age. If you always show your child the way, it cannot develop independence.
