When can children play handball?

  • From the age of four, your offspring can be introduced to ball sports with “mini handball”.
  • International Handball Federation (IHF) rules state that the youngest officially designated age group is E-Youth. In this class, your child can only play at the age of eight.

What do children learn in handball?

In this physical team sport, children learn how to throw the ball into the opponent’s goal during a game and thus score a point for their team. For this reason, fitness and coordination exercises are first on the training plan in handball. The little athletes are also taught the rules, tactics and throwing techniques. With handball, however, children also learn how to roll when throwing and how to catch the ball from different positions.

How much does handball cost for children?

The annual club costs usually amount to 50 to 100 euros. Many handball clubs also charge an admission fee of around 15 to 30 euros. Additionally, fees may increase as your child gets older.

How long do handball lessons last?

The clubs offer very different training sessions. As a rule, however, you can count on a course unit lasting between 60 and 90 minutes and training once or twice a week.

To play handball, children only need comfortable sportswear in which they can move easily. Since this ball sport is generally played indoors, your offspring also need non-slip indoor shoes.
