General information on conjunctivitis
If your child’s conjunctiva becomes inflamed, this is referred to as conjunctivitis. The inflammation is on the inside of the eyelids and the adjacent eyeball. The blood vessels fill up, causing the eye to appear red and swollen. Sometimes the eye also secretes secretions. This can cause the eyelids to stick together after sleeping. It can be caused by an infection or allergy, but also by chemical or mechanical irritation.
You can read about how to treat an eye infection in babies and small children with homeopathic remedies in our article “ Eye inflammation in babies ”.
Homeopathy for conjunctivitis
The following table includes the most common forms of conjunctivitis and possible combinations with other symptoms. The table lists which homeopathic remedy is recommended in these cases. Since conjunctivitis can also occur in combination with many other symptoms, it only contains the most common ones. You can find compact information about other symptoms and how they can be treated with homeopathic remedies in Sven Sommer’s guide “Homeopathy for Children”.
If the symptoms persist, be sure to consult a paediatrician, ophthalmologist or naturopath!
