Mobile “Sun, moon and stars”: crafts with children

You can also make a mobile for the children’s room yourself with your child. MomaSquad shows you how it works.

Age: from 4 years

What you need: silver or gold thread, glue stick, scissors, small sponge, plate for finger paint, wide adhesive tape; for the sun: piece of cardboard or strong paper, yellow and orange scraps of paper (e.g. scraps of serviettes or crepe paper); for the moon: cardboard in white, finger paint in white; for the star: cardboard in black or grey, glitter packaging, aluminum foil, glitter scatter

Handicraft instructions for the mobile

  • Help your child to transfer the sun, moon and star from the template onto the cardboard. If your child is already good at drawing, they can draw the sun, moon and star themselves.
  • Your child should start with the moon as it takes time to dry out. For this there is the white finger paint on the plate and then presses the sponge firmly into the paint.
  • Now your child can use the sponge to apply the color to the moon. If you want, you can also sprinkle some glitter on the wet paint. This makes the moon even brighter.
  • Let the moon dry.
  • Next, stick the paper strips crisscrossing the sun.
  • Your child will make the star last. To do this, they can snip and tear up glitter packaging and aluminum foil and stick it on the star. Should the star get even brighter? Then just drizzle some glue on the star and sprinkle glitter scatter over it.
  • When all three motifs are finished, attach the gold or silver thread to the back with wide adhesive tape.
  • Now you are finally ready to hang up your mobile.
