Polo Nero biscuits from Austria

Polo Nero are cookies that people in Austria like to eat at Christmas. They are assembled with jam and dipped in chocolate.

Since the recipe for these delicious Polo Nero biscuits comes from Austria, the units of measurement are a bit unusual. DAG is the abbreviation of Deckagramm, and an Austrian dag is ten German grams. But don’t worry, we’ve done the conversion for you!

Ingredients:

25 days/ 250 g Thea
14 days/ 140 g icing sugar
25 days/ 250 g flour

2 eggs
1 yolk
1 pinch of salt
1 packet of vanilla sugar

Preparing the Polo Nero:

  • Cream together the butter, icing sugar, vanilla sugar and salt. Gradually add eggs and yolks.
  • Mix the flour, baking powder and cocoa and stir in at the end.
  • Bake the finished dough at 160° for about 10 minutes.
  • Now always put the biscuits together with jam. The delicious chocolate biscuits are ready!
