Not all vibrators are the same

We’ll start with the vibrator – because these are also available in different versions that you should know. These are devices with a small electric motor that generates vibrations. Your erogenous zones are stimulated by the vibration. There are these types of vibrators:

  • Classic vibrator  – rod-shaped, imitates the erect penis
  • Rabbit vibrator  – is similar to classic vibrators, but has a small extension on the shaft that specifically stimulates the clitoris
  • G-spot vibrator  – has a curved tip that touches and stimulates the g-spot
  • Lay-on vibrator, butterfly vibrator, clitoral stimulator/sucker – massage device in various forms, which usually cannot be inserted into the vagina or anus, but is used to stimulate the clitoris (or possibly the nipples).
  • Anal vibrator  – intended for insertion into the anus and is usually smaller than classic vibrators
  • Bead vibrator  – looks like classic or rabbit vibrators, but also has multiple rows of beads that rotate. In addition to the vibration function, there is an additional type of stimulation and such models usually have more programs than other vibrators.
  • Impact vibrator, pulsator  – also similar to classic vibrators, but also has an impact function
  • Finger vibrators  – are much smaller and are not usually intended for vaginal insertion. They are placed on the finger – for more intensity during manual stimulation.
  • Couple vibrator  – has a special shape so that the sexual organs of both sex partners are stimulated
  • Wearables and Vibro-Panties – “wearable” (smaller) vibrators or underwear that vibrate, both usually with remote controls
  • Vibrating Eggs and Bullets – Mini vibrators shaped like eggs or bullets

Love toys: dildos, love balls & more

Apart from vibrators, there are many other sex toys that you can use to spice up your love life:

  • Dildo  – like the classic vibrators, it is a replica of the erect member. The difference to vibrators: dildos have no motor and do not vibrate.
  • Double  Dildo – There are penis heads on both ends of the dildo. This means that it can be used by two people at the same time (e.g. by a lesbian couple) or is suitable for double penetration.
  • Anal dildo  – smaller dildo intended for insertion into the anus
  • Anal plug (butt plug) – is also used anally, but often only in preparation for anal intercourse. Butt plugs are tapered to prevent them from slipping out: they stay in the anus for a few minutes and stretch the rectal muscles so anal intercourse is painless.
  • Love balls (vaginal balls, love beads)  – balls that are inserted into the vagina and stimulate it. They have a lanyard to pull them out of the sheath again. Vaginal balls are also used medicinally to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.
  • Anal Beads – String of balls smaller than the love balls and intended for anal masturbation
  • Massagers – this term includes gadgets of various shapes that vibrate and are intended for stimulating erogenous zones. Rod-shaped massagers usually have a larger head than normal vibrators and are also not suitable for insertion into the vagina.
  • Pumps, suckers – create a vacuum effect and thus stimulate various organs. There are pumps for the breasts, for the nipples, for the vagina and for the clitoris.
  • Strap-on  – strap-on dildo/vibrator. The penis replica is attached to panties or straps and is used to penetrate another person (e.g. for lesbian couples or for double penetration).
  • Sexmachines  – Devices that replicate the sexual act. A dildo or vibrator is attached to the machines – and these are moved back and forth, similar to the thrusting motions during intercourse. Some devices also have pumps or other parts that help stimulate.
  • Handcuffs, restraints, blindfolds, feather ticklers and other accessories used in couples (mainly for BDSM games – similar to “Fifty Shades of Grey”). You can find more sex toys for couples listed here.
