General information about abscesses
An abscess is an encapsulated collection of pus in the tissue. If the pus cannot drain out, for example because a pore is blocked with sebum or dirt or a wound has been closed tightly, an abscess forms. The skin around the abscess is red, tight, and painful to the touch. As soon as a drop of pus becomes visible, i.e. the pus can drain off, the feeling of tension disappears.
It is better to have all abscesses examined by your pediatrician!
