9th month of pregnancy: your baby
In the 9th month of pregnancy (33rd to 36th week of pregnancy) your baby can feel exactly whether you are sitting, standing or lying down.
- At the beginning of the 9th month of pregnancy, your baby has reached about 46 cm and about 2500 grams and will gain an average of 200 grams per week until birth.
- His brain is fully developed and his nails have grown to the tips of his fingers. The hair is also up to 5 cm long.
- Lung maturation is also complete by the 35th week : His lungs produce a kind of flushing liquid, the “surfactant factor”, which lines and enlarges the alveoli.
- If your baby is a boy, the testicle will now descend from the abdomen into the scrotum. Since the passage between the abdomen and the scrotum is open, fluid can enter the testicles. That is why boys are often born with a swollen limb. However, the swelling quickly subsides on its own.
- Your child’s sleep-wake cycle is opposite to yours. If you move, your baby will fall asleep due to the rocking motion. When you lie down to rest, your baby becomes active and keeps you awake. This sleep phase is called the REM phase.
- Note: From now on, have two check -ups a month.
